Consumer Participation

Kerang District Health is required by the new National Safety and Quality Standards to develop a Consumer Participation Strategy that aims to build strong partnerships with our community to enable them to have greater input into health care.

This occurs when consumers are meaningfully involved in decision-making about their care and treatment, or when providing input about service delivery, health policy or planning.

Currently we have many initiatives that gather data on patient experience but the new standard requires for consumers to be more involved in being part of finding the solutions to aspects identified for improvement.

Kerang District Health is seeking consumers to be members of the Consumer Participation Committee and they will be offered training in how to fulfil this role.

For more information about Consumer Participation or to express an interest in contributing to this committee please contact the Quality Coordinator – Karen Transton on 5450 9200.
