The Kerang Wig Library provides a service to women affected by cancer who experience hair loss.
Each consultation is private and confidential.
A small gold coin donation would be appreciated.
We are located in the Physio Room at Kerang District Health in Burgoyne Street, Kerang.
A selection of wigs, hats, scarves and turbans are available.
We have two experienced hairdressers who can assist clients in choosing relevant head wear.
Cut your hair short before you start chemotherapy. It’s less traumatic to lose short clumps of hair than long ones and it’s easier to fit a wig over less hair.
If you get used to short hair, you won’t have to wait as long for your hair to grow back to feel like yourself again. It is also cooler; wigs can feel a little hot in summer.
Since a short-haired wig is easier to wear and care for, if your hair is already short, you will have an easier time living with temporary hair of a similar length.
For more information or to make an appointment please contact Kerang District Health on 5450 9200.
We would like to thank all those who have made this service possible.
